is a reservoir in the Drakensberg mountains in Quthing District, Lesotho. The reservoir was formed when a smaller, natural lake was enlarged by damming the source of the Mohlakeng River in 1968. Mohale Dam lies almost 100km east of Maseru along the surfaced A3. The dam is connected by a tunnel with Katse Dam to ensure enough water supply to South Africa.

Katse Dam is a popular holiday destination, situated in the Maliba-mats’o River. This is the highest dam in Africa, also one of the world’s ten largest concrete arch dams in terms of volume, with a capacity of nearly 2 billion cubic meters and a surface area of 38.5 square kilometers. The dam provides in the region of 72 megawatts of electricity for Lesotho and earns millions in revenue for supplying South Africa with water. The construction of the Katse Dam started in February 1991 and was completed in May 1997.
