LMC provides support & training to craft workers in Lesotho regarding design, practical skills, IT, sales and marketing. It is an Action Lesotho initiative. The twelve groups within LMC work with a range of textiles and materials, including mohair, wool, leather, horn, felt and traditional Seshoeshoe fabric. Products include wall-hangings, rugs, bags, slippers, sandals, jewellery, cushion covers, felt figures and small souvenirs

  2. Leribe Crafts Centre
Leribe Craft Center is a workshop and employment project which trains Basotho women in the artisanal skills of hand spinning mohair yarn, dyeing it and weaving it by hand. It was established in 1911, in Hlotse, Leribe. The center sources their raw mohair locally and has begun to use some locally made equipment in their production process. In addition, they employ about forty women, including many of those who are differently abled, to produce handmade tapestries, scarves, shawls, runners and ponchos, amongst others. These can be found on site at their shop, along with items such as the well-known Basotho hats and woolen dolls. Profits generated from the sales go into training for differently abled women, lodging for the weavers and the workshops operations

The Elelloang Basali (Be Aware Women) Weavers are a partnership of Basotho women who weave mohair rugs, tapestries, bags, table mats, and knit mohair jackets. Our beautiful, high quality weavings, which have been washed, mothproofed, dyed, woven and finished in our Lesotho studio, using local hand-spun mohair, will add a unique touch to your home or office and make wonderful gifts!   Since 1997, we have been working to take control of our lives and improve the quality of life for our children. The proceeds from every purchase you make go back to us, all Basotho women, to help us pay school fees and medical bills, and additional income goes to the development of the weaving partnership.   Designs celebrate the Basotho cultural heritage through the revival of Basotho Litema patterns (originally drawn into the walls of traditional Lesotho homes -- click the 'litema' link in the menu at left for more about these designs), depictions of the ancient Bushmen rock paintings throughout the region, and illustrate rural village life.   Lesotho, the ""Kingdom in the Sky"", is a land of beautiful sandstone buttes, fossilized footprints, traditional song and dance, and breathtaking mountain vistas. Experience and remember this world through our weavings!   We specialize in custom orders and company logos and we also ship abroad.

  2. Hatooa-Mose-Mosali
Hatooa Mose Mosali (PTY) Ltd. is situated in the lowlands of the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, in the northern district of Berea, at Ha Molemane next to Metro Cash and Carry. "Hatooa Mose Mosali", which implies that women should stand up and do some resourceful work in their society, is a proprietary business, solely owned and managed by Basotho women. Hatooa Mose Mosali started its operations in August 1990 in Teyateyaneng in the midst of many established weaving houses. In Teyateyaneng, weaving is considered a cultural heritage.   Hatooa Mose Mosali was formed by twenty-one Basotho women. It split in 1997 when fifteen women left and formed Elelloang Basali. We are now running it with five women. We hired ten women for weaving, four spinning women, two knitting women, to whom we will sell shares later on so that they can feel happy and proud when working at Hatooa Mose Mosali.   It was formed to be self-employed and to create jobs among other women and to fight against poverty
